the Impact Indicator?
No player can walk off a serious head injury. Despite their desire to stay in a game and not let their team
down, it's critical that a player be evaluated by a professional as soon as possible if a concussion is
suspected. Getting a player off the field and out of the action speeds healing and his or her return
to the game.

What is the Impact Indicator?
The IMPACT INDICATOR is sophisticated technology embedded in a comfortable and sturdy chinstrap.
The Impact Indicator connects to the helmet via the chinstraps, allowing the force of the impact to
alert the microsensor software technology.
How does the Impact Indicator work?
The IMPACT INDICATOR measures and calculates the G-force and duration sustained by a player's head
to help minimize the risks of concussion. When a player's head has sustained impact likely to cause a
concussion, the IMPACT INDICATOR's LED light flashes red to represent a 50% likelihood of head injury.
Once activated, the light will flash for one minute alerting players, coaches and officials that the player
needs to be evaluated before playing on and risking additional injury. The Head Injury Criterion (HIC) is
a measure of the likelihood of head injury arising from an impact. The Head Injury Criterion was
established by the Bioengineering Center at
